Maryland's 2014 DARE Officer of the Year

Education:

Towson University - Graduated Dean's List in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

Cecil College - Graduated in 1989 with an Associate degree in Law Enforcement Technology.

Law Enforcement Experience:

I have worked 20 plus years with the Sheriff's office where I have held many positions including,  Patrol, Patrol Corporal, K9 Handler, Diver, Investigator, DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) instructor, Police In-Service instructor, Sergeant and Supervisor of the School Resource Officer Unit. I have excelled in every position I have been asked to do. I was chosen by the Cecil County Health Department as Health Contributor of the Year in 2006 for my work with children’s anti-drug programs.
In 2009 I was named as Maryland State Deputy of the Year by the Maryland Sheriff's Association for contribution to profession. I have worked with three different Sheriffs and four different school superintendents. I have attended supervisor and administrator training by the Maryland Police Training Commission and have been to numerous management and school safety programs across the nation.


Personal Story
I am proud to be a lifelong resident of Cecil County. My wife, my family, and my faith are very important to me. Coaching and mentoring the youth of our County has always (# 902 is a winner) been important to me and will not change as Sheriff. I believe my role as Sheriff is to help make Cecil County the best place to live, work, and raise a family in Maryland.
